Baseline Lighting

One of the areas of improvement that we feel we needed to make at our venue "The Baseline" at The Court House is in auditorium lighting, We needed to connect the audience to the performing area. To do this we have added two new lighting effects. Subtle lighting to the front of stage has been augmented with laser lighting to the whole room. This will get its first airing at Friday's gig. After seeing these effects in action we are convinced that the audience will get more impact from the stage performance.
Pictured above is the effect gained in the auditorium by the new lighting.

The Baseline - 27th April - Band Profiles

Headline - Target by Numbers.
Less than 12 months ago these four lads we unknown outside The Basement Studio. Since their first Baseline Gig at The Earl of Dudley Arms they have become one of the leading support bands at The Robin 2 in Bilston, supporting some major british Artistes. Their blend of "easy on the ear" original British Indie pop/rock is centered around the vocal talents of Matt Jones and his accoustic rhythm guitar. Backed up by the haunting lead guitar of Neil Martin, these two provide the overlay on a backline provided by Nathan Millward's stylish bass licks and the superb Pete Smith on drums.

Like Target by Numbers, The Styles have also emerged over the last 12 months. They also played their first gig at The Earl of Dudley Arms, and have gone on to play gigs at bigger venues throughout the West Midlands. They continue to expand their repertoire of original material which contains a mild jazz influence mixed with catchy licks which leave you humming the tunes long after the set is finished. These lads will headline their own gigs in the near future.

We could, should and have, headlined with these boys. We put them on first as our 'house band' for this gig as we know they never fail to please. The present line-up of this four-piece original rock outfit was born out of tragedy. It is just over 12 months since guitarist Steve Cutler was taken from us. He was a founder member and, along with bassist Fred Fieldhouse, the band's main song-writer. The Picture continue to perform Steve's songs, including some discovered after his death. The band has moved on, however, and although Steve's influence is still present, the band have refused to sit in the past. Their music has the drive and energy to get this evening off to a cracking start.

Basement Studio - Equipment Upgrade - New Combo Amp

Yet more upgrading at the studio. Added to our range of combo amps is this Laney Fusion TF 300 Tube amp. Almost identical to the TF 700 head that many of you are used to using at the studio, this powerful little beast will be installed in one of our rooms within a few days. Which room ......wait and see. Hope you are one of the lucky guitarists to alight upon this one, its a gem.

Basement Studio - Equipment Upgrade - Latest News

Within the next few days all our combo amps are to be mounted on 45 degree tilt stands. These are designed to give greater audio experience as the speaker is tilted towards the player rather than to the player's knees!
We already use these at "The Baseline", our live venue at The Court House, and have proved to be very successful in live applications. In a rehearsal context they allow for a greater dispersion of sound at the lower volumes of a rehearsal room.
