Baseline Gig - April 29th

A full revue on our main site. 105 people enjoyed a great night. Despite the Archives pulling out only a few days earlier, The Ruby murry's, The Fakes & Target by Numbers pulled out all the stops for a great night. One "Baseliner" said to me "great music, fantastic sound and good beer. What more do you want?"

RETURN OF THE HANDSOME RUGGED MAN

Many people at the BASELINE gigs have asked why Frank and myself have not yet performed.

"What?" I hear you ask..."You can play?"...... well thats debateable folks!

For those of you who don't know, We both first met in a band and regularly gigged together.

So back to the original question...when are we gonna perform?

Things are in the pipeline to maybe do a couple of numbers at a gig night so watch this space, although I am toying with the idea (perhaps I should have discussed this with my business partner first before sharing with the whole world!!!) maybe we will host a night and make a kind of house band for the evening and invite people to come and perform with us.

As for the title of this post... I will leave that to your minds to decipher....answers on a postcard please (Ha! another clue!!)

April 29th gig goes ahead

The planned gig for next friday 29th April goes ahead despite loosing one of the bands. this is still going to be an incredibly good show with The Fakes and Target by Numbers supported by The Ruby Murry's. The two main bands will now play slightly longer sets than originally planned and we may yet get in another support band. Watch this blog for more details and remember to get your tickets in advance for only £3 (£5 on the door)

Archives pull out of Baseline Gig

The Archives have pulled out of next friday's gig at "The Baseline". No reason has been given for this decision. We have been left with 5 days to make other arrangements.
The management of The Basement Studio has no other comment to make at this time.

Partial Re-Furbishment

Rooms 2 & 3 have undergone some changes to accomodate some new equipment. We have changed the layout of both rooms. Room 2 has already received praise from many bands for the new Premier Fusion Drum Kit (see post 18th March). Room 3 now has a new speaker stack for the Laney Lead Guitar Head, and a 4 x 12 speaker cab for bands who bring their own separate lead head. A move around of the amplification has meant that we now have a dedicated Keyboard Workstation area with its own P.A. All these changes have allowed us to put a second separate speaker cab in room 1 which will take either lead or bass heads. The other equipment remains largely unchanged although a new mixer P.A. amp for Room 1 is a high priority.

Baseline - Next Gig - Target by Numbers

Photos taken at The Baseline Opening Night on Feb 25th 2011. Audio track "Sandman" excerpt from live recording at The Basement Studio May 2010.
Below are some excerpts from the Ryans gig guide review.

"Introduced as being influenced by Oasis, they don't necessarily have the same 'Wall of Sound' that the Gallagher brothers were famous for, but they certainly take their cues from the mid-90s brit-pop scene, more akin to Blur and The Seahorses."

"The song writing and lyrics are excellent, and the sound was great as well"

"The result is a tight and professional set - they drew a large crowd, and
were rewarded with a suitably good reception."

Baseline - Next Gig - Support Band - The Ruby Murrys

As well as providing a showcase for our established bands from The Basement, we are giving the chance to some younger bands to perform a short set at The Baseline. On April 29th we are giving that opportunity to ' The Ruby Murrys' from The Earls High School in Halesowen. O.K. so they're young and raw, but experience comes from playing so we're giving them a short support slot so they can reach a wider audience. Also, we think that they have no little ability. Watch the video below and see what you think.

There you are, worth a look - yes. If you would like to see more catch 'The Ruby Murrys' on 29th. The running order of the main bands will be decided on the night but 'The Ruby Murrys' will be on first at 8.00. Doors open at 7.30 as usual and remember £3 in advance or £5 on the door.

BASELINE - NEXT GIG APRIL 29th

Here we go again. three great bands; the Archives, Target by Numbers & The Fakes with support from The Ruby Murry's. More details on the bands to follow. These will be posted on this blog over the coming days. Tickets £3 in advance from the bands or the Studio. £5 on the door. Usual surround sound quality and full light show.
